It’s Fall Ya’ll! Autumn Events At The Melbourne Preschool
Hello Friends!
Today is September 22nd, which means fall is officially here! At The Melbourne Preschool, we’re ready to celebrate the season with a full calendar of exciting activities and events! From harvest lessons and pumpkin carving, to fire safety, costume parades and Fall Festivals, we’re making this fall one to remember. Here’s a look at everything we have planned for our students and their families for Fall 2025!
Harvest Season and Farm Life
As we head into fall, our focus turns to harvest season — a perfect opportunity for our students to learn about where food comes from and the importance of farming. We’re excited to welcome Cox Farms and their mobile petting farm for a hands-on experience connected to this lesson. Children will get the chance to meet and interact with farm animals, bringing our harvest lessons to life.
We’ll also explore the life cycle of pumpkins, from seed to harvest, and create sensory activities that allow our little ones to touch, feel, and experience the season.
Indigenous Peoples Day: Learning About the Ais People
In recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day, we take time to teach our students about the history of the Ais people, the original inhabitants of Central East Coast Florida. The Ais were skilled fishermen and farmers, living off the land in our very own community. Through storytelling, crafts, and engaging discussions, we’re teaching our students to appreciate the history and culture of the Indigenous peoples of our region.
Fire Safety Week: October 6–10
In early October, we will focus on Fire Safety Week. Local firefighters will visit the preschool with their fire truck, giving our students an up-close look at fire safety equipment and what to do in an emergency. This is a valuable opportunity for our kids to learn important safety lessons in a fun and interactive way.
Spooky Classroom Decorating Contest
October wouldn’t be complete without some arts and crafts! Our fan-favorite Spooky Classroom Decorating Contest is back, and each class will work together to create a spook-tacular space filled with their own artwork during the month of October. Parents chosen as secret judges will get to vote for their favorite classroom, and the winning class earns a social media shout-out and bragging rights until our Winter Wonderland Decorating Competition in December! Ready, Set, Craft!
Costume Parade & Class Party: October 31
Of course, no fall celebration is complete without Halloween! Our Halloween Parade and Class Party will take place on October 31st. Students and teachers will dress up in their favorite costumes, and parents are invited to join us for the fun. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season and get into the Halloween spirit!
Fall Community Events: Join the Fun!
There are also some great free community events happening that our families can attend this fall season:
EGAD's Halloween In the District: On October 17th, The Verdi EcoSchool will host spooky hayrides and a costume contest for families in the local community! More event details here.
Native Rhythms Festival: From November 14–16, the Native Rhythms Festival at Wickham Park celebrates Native American culture with music, dance, and art. It’s a great way for families to learn more about our local heritage. Check out the festival here.
Veterans Day: Honoring Our Heroes – November 11
After the fall months of September and October, we move into November, where on November 11th, we honor Veterans Day and our nation’s veterans and their service. We invite veterans in our community to participate in Story Time and Morning Circle with our students. This special time gives our children the opportunity to meet and hear directly from those who have served, learning the importance of gratitude and respect for their contributions. It’s a meaningful autumn event for our preschoolers to connect with local heroes and understand the significance of Veterans Day.
Thanksgiving Fall Festival: November 21
At the end of November, we’ll wrap up our fall season with our annual Thanksgiving Fall Festival! This special event invites families to join us for a Thanksgiving lunch, including homemade cinnamon butter, turkey with cranberry sauce, and delicious pumpkin parfaits made by our amazing Chef Nicole. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season of gratitude with our preschool community!
We’re looking forward to an exciting and enriching fall with you! From learning about harvest and indigenous culture to decorating competitions and giving thanks at our Fall Festival, there’s so much to look forward to!
Here’s to a wonderful fall season filled with learning, laughter, and pumpkin spice!
